Generating organic traffic?

Hey guys, have you tried generating organic traffic from search engines and if so what have been the most successful techniques?

But mostly link building, and ... I forgot about on-page optimization.

Generate plenty of free traffic by optimizing your existing posts/pages
for long tail keywords relevant to your content.

-1- Searches related to "your keyword"
(Find these at the bottom of Google when you make a keyword search.)

-2- Plug in the long tail keyword phrases suggested into your blog post pages.

-3- Include relevant images complete with alt tags

-4- Promote these revised pages with PingFarm.com and PingExpert.com
multiple times.
