It depends on how much is your traffic.

Currently, I'm using Wordpress hosting from A2 hosting and it's still good to handle 5,000 visitors / day.

Indeed, it is depend on what sort of wordpress website you will host. When it is a little website you can host it on cheaper hosting packages. When you have a big website it is better to look for wordpress optimized packages or a VPS.

I initially used namecheap when i was small :p Namecheap was good to be honest.
Now i use vpswebserver as i have 20+ sites. They are good too.

Oh when i tried learning all these, i used to use 000webhost. It was fun :p

I am hosting some WordPress sites on a VPS with InclusiveHost solely because I know their support staff goes above and beyond to help, and are very competent. Of course, there are plenty of providers right here on WMS that could host a regular WordPress fine, just as RDO Servers said.

I have many WordPress sites and I have some at 3 different hosting providers. I use separate hosts 3 for a few reasons but I won't get into that.

Over many years I have used a couple dozen hosting providers. Some are better at one thing and others at another. No matter what hosting company you choose, the most important thing is that they provide great support that is speedy and highly competent. So I always put service as the most important factor. Out of all the hosts that I have used, Namecheap has given me the best support by far.

There are a countless number of hosting providers out there that are good, but I will only speak of the ones that I have used and based on personal experience. Going on personal experience, Namecheap is the best I have had.

No matter what host you decide to use, stay away from any hosting company owned by EIG. I had a few very bad experiences with them and they tried to pull a scam on me at two different companies of theirs. They even held the sites I had with them hostage and tried to extort me out of money.

If you do choose to go with an EIG owned host, make sure you like stress and are using an old computer because there's a big chance you'll want to throw it across the room when dealing with them.

How true!! Unfortunately, I still have one website maintenance client that is using Hostgator, and I'm always getting alerts that his site is down. I'd love to move him to another provider, but it is what it is for now.

They used to be a good host, until EIG bought them. Many of their customers dod't/didn't know they were bought and expected the same service.

I still have a hosting plan with one of their companies that has about 6 months left on the term because I paid for 2 years like a fool and they don't do refunds after 30 days. I use it for landing pages, and testing, but not for anything I am planning on keeping or using long term.

I think VPS would be perfect choice for Wordpress Website. you will get full root access, and High Speed at affordable price.

Why would you recommend the OP use a VPS?

VPS's do offer root access.

VPS's are also more expensive
VPS's have to be managed, which requires more $ (if managed) or more time for the customer (if unmanaged)
VPS's are overkill for the vast majority of wordpress websites
If you don't need root access, you can often get more resources and better performance on shared hosting vs a entry level VPS. Just because your site is on a VPS, does not mean it will be "High Speed"

Now a days VPS comes at very low price with dedicated resources and highly configured hosting services.
Its good for wordpress websites, the performance will be high on VPS.
the user can managed the VPS through the solusVM control Panel which comes free with VPS and the technical team always assist the client for his hosting needs.

Again, you are giving the OP a recommendation, based on what services you offer. Not all VPS's are low priced, give dedicated resources, use SolusVM, or are managed.

In fact, a managed VPS, with higher resources then you would have on a shared hosting account, will be more expensive then a shared hosting account, AND may not provide any added benefit to the customer.

Plus, will that have to also purchase cPanel, LiteSpeed, etc, just to have the same features they would on a cheaper shared hosting account?

Yes, VPS's are good, in certain instances, but if the website does not NEED a VPS, then it is simply a waste of money, and may actually give poorer performance compared to a quality shred hosting account. We offer VPS's also. But I'm not going to suggest a customer spend money on something they dont need.

I am using Godaddy managed WordPress hosting for my blog. All I can say that it is really a good hosting provider with 99.9% network up-time. Their customer support is also excellent. Never had any problem with them so far.

I use 1and1 hosting and it doesn't cost me a lot, has everything I need and I make money with my site. On my platform I have a multisite that run surprisingly smooth with one database.

Dont know if I'd say they are the best but they're not bad at all and have pretty good support.

I switched about 6 months ago, to knownhost and very happy. Moved around from a Evil Corp brand. Had VPS for as long as I can remember, but yes might be over kill for some folks. Sadly too many shared services are over-crowded and slow.

There are hosting services dedicated to hosting Wordpress sites, but most seem to just be earning off the buzz. Don't see how they are that much different. And often Woprdpress type hosting can limit which plug-ins you use, I don't like that.
