For running e-commerce sites, you should choose a VPS with a decent RAM and CPUs, because e-commerce sites require more server resource to run, if you want less RAM to run them, you need to do more optimizations for your hosting server as install caching solutions or plugins.

What is your budget for this? Just curious.

From my point of view, if you don't handle too many visitors / day, like 10K, or 20K, then I think you can get started with Bluehost or A2 Hosting.

I am sure you know this, but hosting is the most important part of any online business. Definitely Not the place to be cheap.

And I would Not go with Bluehost. They are owned by EIG. All kinds of info about them on the net, not good news either.

I use D9 hosting, they are awesome.
Iv'e been with bluehost, hostgator and godaddy.And all of them were uesless. high downtime, lost of worries and problems and terrible service.
Ron is right , hosting isn't the place to skimp and save money. get a good reliable host and that will take the worry out over any downtime etc.
