I have always been a fan of Logic, and am attracted to PROLOG. But i don't have that much experience in this field. I was wondering if one can program anything with the language, like software calculators for example, or other types of useful systems besides expert systems.
Is the use of PROLOG limited to programming and implementing AI systems?

I would not. It's not designed as a general purpose programming language. I would go with PHP or Python for the web and C, C++, C# or even Visual Basic for desktop.
