Wordpress Bootstrap - Registration and Opt-In options

I had put a website together and really wasn't happy with the layout, usability, and pretty much just don't like anything about it. I'm considering putting together a Bootstrap custom theme but don't know the best method/options to put together a registration and event. I had used BuddyPress on the current version which wasn't bad, and used Events Manager which did the job but I really didn't like the layout of the events page.

Are there other/better options? And is it fairly easy to add these plugins to a custom bootstrap Wordpress site?
