Experiential Marketing - Are back-links a good idea?

Currently trying to use forums such as these to back-link our experiential marketing website. We use augmented reality i.e headset-based, mobile, projection mapping to create one-on-one consumer epxerinces. I'm trying to figure out if forums like these are even an appropriate place to essentially boost up our SEO and send people back to our work, it's kinda meta haha. Would be interested in hearing how or if you guys have used forums to boost your SEO by having dozens of profiles and forum posts across the web...

Total waste of your time. The only backlinks that really work well for SEO are from authority sites in the same niche.

Also, when a forum moderator sees that all you are really doing is trying to drop links, your going to get your posts deleted and possibly banned from the forum. Forums want active users that actually want to share with others and participate.

So don't do it.
