Yes, it works better for physical products but can and does work well for just about any product. A few things to keep in mind.

1. Pinterest is a visual search engine and not a social platform.
2. The majority of users are women. The men/women ratio is closing slowly though.

Pinterest can drive your web traffic. Every post is represented by a Pin, which can be an image or video that is searched and saved by Pinterest users. Pins can also link back to websites, which is why Pinterest is great for driving traffic and sales.
For businesses, pins help people find more information on products they’re looking to buy.

A pin is 100 times longer spreadable compared to your ordinary tweet. Each pin may push to two-page visits and 6-page viewpoints. There is the power behind using Pinterest to induce traffic for their own site.

As others have said, yes, it is possible to drive traffic to your website using Pinterest, just like with any other social media platform.
One thing that you will find to be particularly useful with Pinterest is using graphics, similar to the way you would with Instagram.
These graphics on Pinterest, however, should be along the lines of showing lists, comparisons, or infographics. Using these types of images along with a description and a link back to your SPECIFIC page on your site relating to that topic, will help drive traffic. DO NOT just link to your homepage... people will not be willing to search for the article that you were putting up on your site.

You can get traffic on Pinterest by uploading mostly GIFs, videos. You can do follow 50 members daily. You can make a business account to get more visibility for your pin.

Pinterest offers businesses of all sizes a unique way to market themselves — as a visual search engine, Pinterest is great for exposing new potential customers to your brand. That's because Pinners come to the platform for inspiration.

Pinterest is all sharing your work, or what you sell with people through attractive images & videos. As per science, our mind is more attracted towards visuals and easily remembers them. That's why platforms like pinterest & instagram have become a major part of our lives. This same feature has helped people gain benefit from this platform for their business. Brand recognition, brand recall, more engagement and website traffic, and lead generation are some benefits that pinterest gives to businesses. However, it is more suitable for B2C businesses and might not be that effective for B2B.

Yes, Pinterest is a good platform for sending traffic to a business, especially if that business is involved in introductory creative industries. The site is growing rapidly and has a very engaged user base. In terms of the number of monetary transactions originating from isolated digital properties, Pinterest ranks second only to Facebook. And2010 study found that pins naming businesses and web pages were 20% more likely to result in a purchase than other types of pins on the site. Unfortunately, as with any social media platform, there is no one silver bullet or surefire method for driving traffic to your website from Pinterest. So while it should definitely be part of your social media and marketing mix, don’t expect it to perform miracles.

Pinterest can be a great way to send traffic to your business. The key is to make sure your pins are high quality and relevant to your target audience. You should also use catchy captions and keyword-rich descriptions to help people find your pins.

1. Make sure your profile is complete and includes a link to your website.
2. Pin interesting and engaging content that people will want to share.
3. Use keywords in your pin descriptions so people can find your pins when they search for them.
4. Experiment with different types of pins (images, infographics, videos, etc.) to see what works best for your audience.
5. Use Pinterest Analytics to track how well your pins are performing and adjust your strategy accordingly.
6. Create boards that are relevant to your target audience.
7. Participate in group boards whenever possible.
8. Pin new content regularly.

Best of luck

Depends on what business you are trying to promote. Have a look on the site see what people post on there this will give you a good idea what type of traffic it is.

Pinterest works well, but you have to spend a lot of time on the platform to make it work in my experience.
