Now ranking on Google doesn't depend on the number of backlinks, you can search in the Google and can see that most of the pages get higher ranking having less number of links from the pages having lower ranking. To rank high you need to have quality and natural backlinks also you should have rich content in your website.

There is no particular number of links, if that should be then any one can rank easily on top. Even lots of time sites having a very low quantity of backlinks get higher ranking. All are these because of the quality which matters a lot for Google.

There is no reliable or confirmed answer to this. It depends on the market to be at the top of your goal keywords. So if your rivals don't have ties, then you need a real link; yes, of course, more useful content is also required.

Both quality and quantity matter. Higher the quality, higher will be the rank. The same is true for quantity, but from different sources. If you want to ask how many quality links you require for ranking, the answer is it depends. It depends much on the number of quality links that your competitor has. If you want to out rank your competitor, you should have more quality links than she/he has. The scenario may change from time to time. I mean the reactions of your competitors.

It much depends on the competition for the keyword you are optimizing for. In some cases, a few links may be ok. But in some other cases, it may require a lot of them.

There is no standard defined number defined. A backlink is a metric of quality and hence it is better to have less good quality backlinks than a large number of low quality ones.

It is not the quantity of the links, it is the variety and more importantly quality links that count to rank.

A simple backlinks could be enough to make you rankare the keyword in question, if we talk about the amount of backlinks that can be considered a basic goal, for my experience 2k reference domains with about 1/2 million backlinks could complete your goal. the quality is what counts is useless to have many backlinks if the quality is low, and preferable to have a few but high quality, it is precisely this score that will guarantee you the rank on google.
