Has anyone tried to post Youtube comments on relevant videos to drive traffic to your website?
I am not mentioning about talent of spam here. I could put link on comments thus I thought benefits to getting traffic from it.
Is it worth taking the time? Is there any risk?
what do you think?

Yes, it is a very good idea because people these days are preferring to watch video to understand things about something and suddenly after watching video they would like to check it on the website that how exactly it is online and at the same time he will try to read the comments also to understand the feedback and about something confusing, so when he will see link to your website that is related to video, then he will definitely like to visit your website.

If you post comments on videos that are created by marketers, there will be a high chances that your comments will be remove.

Not many serious viewers actually read Youtube comments, so you are unlikely to drive any real traffic through commenting. If you want to leverage Youtube to drive traffic, maybe try posting some unique content of your own to draw in your own viewers.

You'll need to upload your own unique video where you can place a link in to description however there is no guarantee that you video will have any significant amount of views!

It's no secret that YouTube is a traffic source with almost limitless potential.
There's only one problem:
It's a very crowded place. In fact, according to YouTube, there are more than 100 hours of video uploaded to the site every minute.
The Comment is not the only thing to drive traffic, views and likes are also used to generate traffic.

Most of the crowding is from very low-quality content. Yes, it is overcrowded, but the general low quality of most of what is uploaded makes it quite easy to distinguish yourself by uploading high quality videos.

YouTube commenting worked so awesomly during 2013.

Now the commenting changed and posts get ghosted if you post a link more than like three times with one ip and need multiple accounts, which need phone verification. :/

I had a bot which mass commented and ranked comments, the algorythm changed though and, yikes.
I learned how to program and tried to create a bot a few weeks ago and see why zero yt comment ranking bots exist, yt hides the comment html with java. :/

I'd say posting a few links a day on videos which are quality is worth it, just if the text isnt unique and more than like 3 comments in 5 minutes or 5 comments an hour, the comment gets flagged and ghosted like craigslist posts. :/

I hope you are having a great day and hope I was able to provide solid experienced guidance!

Sincerely,

Randy Gardner
