Google previously announced that it is going to consider the HTTPS sites and add value because HTTPS web sites can have licence. HTTPS means Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, 'S' means Secured site. HTTPS can be purchased by the web site owners who are online transaction and sensitive data in their web site a common web site owner do not use.

According to the latest news reports it seems Google improves Page Rank of the HTTPS web sites rather than improving search results ranking. Search Result ranking is purely depends on quality of the content, number of users to the web site and number of quality back links. So, we can appreciate Google's decision.

Several years ago, Google mentioned that quick loading web sites will be ranked well in its search algorithm. As a result, many site owners/web master focused on faster loading time of the web pages. Web page loading speed can slightly effect your ranking, it is not a key player.

Similarly, HTTPS looks to be a page loading factor, from what I've Understood. One or two percent of searches can be happened with HTTPS even being looked into statistics, but in that rare case also if two websites have HTTPS licence then Google considers whom and whose ranking it will improve?

Analyse with common sense anyone can say easily that Google creating internet politics, but not to improve the search quality. It is a benefit licence providing companies. It is something that misleads or distracts from the relevant or important issue in one word we can say 'red herring'. How can I say this, just read this:HTTPS licence only secure web sites from less effective vulnerabilities, spying kind of things, but it doesn't protect from senior hackers server/database exploits.

Essentially, HTTPS licence can be useful for sites that collect and transmit sensitive information like bank accounts, credit card numbers, passwords etc., where financial transaction can be done.

Normally it is no need to login or to share sensitive information in news portals, articles sites, blogs or portals. They do not need HTTPS licence because they are just information sources.

Here I would like to conclude that do not waste your money and time to switch to HTTPS. It is costly to purchase and need resources to implement; it will decreases your web page loading speed; and it will surely decrease your search engine rankings. Just focus on your clients/users choice provide the best quality content and make it more interactive by actively participating in social media.
