Hey everyone,

I have two questions about statistic in my google webmaster tool:
1. What are Impressions in Google Webmaster Tool and why my impressions increase while number of clicks on keywords decreases and vise versa?
2. How impressions for each keyword are calculated in Google?

Thanks in advance for your helps.

Each time someone makes a search on Google and your website is included in the search results that is an impression, and if they visit it becomes a click. So be careful because if your impressions are too high but you have low clicks then Google will remove your website from the search results.

So impressions is when your website shows up in search results when someone is searching for the keyword you're targeting. I don't know any easy way to explain it.

I think Nytshade did an excellent job of explaining it.

I guess the only easier way to say it is, everytime a visitors sees your url in the SERPs, then that is an impression.

An impression is a visual.

So say you are on the 2nd page of Google for "red shoes"

Someone types in "red shoes"

They look through the first page results and decide to search something else, not making it to the 2nd page, and you do not get an impression.

If they make it to the second page, it will register as an impression because they saw your result in the SERPs.

Normally Clients are looking for only potential customers to hit their website because hits doesn't matter in ranking they increase bounce rate.
