I want to know about reasons why a website may lose its Google pagerank.
Anyone here has some tips on SEO methods to avoid pagerank decrease ?

Following reasons , but not limited to, will lead to reduction of pageranks:

1. Sharing links on low PR,blacklisted and below-reputed sites. When we submit a given site to many sources like directories, blogs,classifieds sites, we need to check for their PRs. Submission sites with comparatively higher PRs can only help to increase PR, or else it will help in negative-SEO then. This may happen after few months of correct submission even. Suppose during submission , the PR of the submission site is quite good but after 2-3 months the PR dropped, then the backlink from that site will reduce the PR of the concerned site. Therefore it is advisable to keep track of the previous submissions also from time to time. If the PR of the given site increased than the submission site OR the PR of the submission site get reduced below the given site, then after keeping vigil on the PR of the submission site (if it shows no improvement over the concerned site's PR) for sometime, we need to use Google's Disavow Links Tool.
2. Low quality contents, usage of copyrighted contents and other black hat techniques may reduce PR.
3. Rigid and non-adaptable SEO techniques which do not follow latest Google's algorithmic changes, will lead to PR reduction.
4. Black-Hat tehcniques will lead to PR reduction.
