Hi irichard,

I see what you're going for here, it's a nice clean theme. If you can rank the page in Google with the right keywords, I'm sure you can make some Host-gator commissions. However, I do have a few suggestions...

1. Go download and install "WP Old Post Date Remover". It's a WordPress plug-in.
Change the settings in the plugin to "1 day". This way after 1 day passes the plugin will automatically remove your post date. It makes your page always look like you have fresh content.

2. Actually type out the steps to sign up with your host-gator deal with screenshots in the post. Make it a full fledged written blog post under the video. Some people like to watch videos, some people like to read. This way, you'll reach both.

3. Add some audio to your video. If you're not comfortable speaking on video yet, at least put some upbeat royalty free music in the background and some captions explaining what you're doing on screen. You can add captions directly through your YouTube video settings.

4. Add an "opt in" form to the sidebar to collect emails. It could say something like this - "Enter Your Email Here For The Latest Hostgator Deals". This way you can a build a relationship with those people and sell to them later.

The easier you make it for people to buy, the more likely they will follow through.

Hope that helps.

-Dustin

Just checked hostgatorpennyhosting, I think it could use a template. The design looks simple. Just a though.

I just clicked on your second link and got a warning from my Comodo browser. The first one looks great in my opinion.

The site doesn't look complete at all, lakes almost everything, needs more content, more graphics, some icons and images are not loaded.
you used default Wordpress theme i guess, which is not very common these days, people usually install better themes which are easier to customize and need less effort to fill in the blanks.

I like Dustin's suggestions. In fact, I learned something new.

If it were me, I would make an idiot-proof, unmistakably simple step-by-step tutorial on how to sign up. As it is now, it's not completely obvious. I would also emulate some of the features on HostGator's site.

I would suggest you create a menu on the sidebar of the articles.. then set it so only an excerpt of each article is displayed on the home page with a "read more" link at the end of the excerpt. Right now it's too linear for my taste.

I like the content of your site. the one thing I have notice while visiting your site is its too wide to fit in browser window. I suggest you to fix it. you can use themes provided my mythemeshop.

Hey there,

As far as design goes it's a simple/classic wordpress blog.. I think you're asking more about the idea rather than the design of how your site looks.

It's definitely possible to make money with this site, but I feel like in order to really monetize it you might need create a squeeze page with your free offer and direct traffic to it.

Then in your autoresponder email followup series then talk to them about hosting and choosing a web host and tell them you wrote an article about it and link this web page in your autoresponder.

That way you'll hold onto that visitor and also direct traffic to that page and the good thing about affiliate coupons is no matter which link they visit the site through as long as they use that coupon (which they will because well... it's a coupon!) you still end up making the commission.

So I would say try this out by building a squeeze page and send a followup email talking about web hosting and link your blog post in there for them to click and read it.

Best of luck!

Adam :)

The site looks clean and I'm a fan of the white background. I think it looks more professional, however have you thought about the chance that Hostgator won't always offer penny hosting? Just wondering, lol? Great job!
