Hi Julzwriter,
the first thing I noticed was the image loaded very slowly.

I have sent you a smaller image to replace it with.

See if this works?

image-for-website-header-480.jpg

It is only 25k, but yours was 4.3 meg.

The sales page has not loaded for me at all.

cheers, Mal.

Hi Julz, for me, I wasn't instantly impressed when I first visited your site.

I don't understand why you've got a big white image against a blue background, it doesn't look "right".

Would be far better if you remove the white space in that image and used a transparent PNG there IMHO.

You could probably do that in PS using magic wand tool or even the online [URLnofo]http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/[/URLnofo] if you don't have PS.

Also that landing page, it has a dot "." as the page Title. What's that about?

And that dark text is quite hard to read against that dark blue background.

Your Services page seems quite basic as well. Maybe you could put those different plans in a CSS div table or something.

Anyway, nothing bad to say, just seems a bit primitive but that might not be the right word but hope it helps all the same.

To your success!

Hi Julz,

Just had a brief look at your site and I have to agree with some of the other comments already made. This is a good start and you now just need to give it some "polish".

Try and eliminate all the dead space on the pages and think about adding some images and graphics. People are very visual and good images help to grab their attention. A good header image would really brighten up the pages as well.

As you are in the copy writing business it is vital that you make sure your website copy is first class with no mistakes. Your prospective customers are going to judge your email writing abilities by what they see on the website.

This is a good start but I would say the site needs a bit more work before you let customers in. I look forward to seeing how it develops.

Regards
Paul

Hey Julz,

I believe in the ready - fire - aim - fire again mindset.

What I mean by that is don't dwell on getting your site perfect before you launch it. It is good enough to launch as it is. Launch it.

Then once you launch it work on fixing everything so it converts better. A good plan violently executed today is better than a perfect plan executed later.

Unless you are going to buy PPC advertising (of buyer keywords) for the site right away, then it is probably going to take you a while to generate buying traffic for that site anyway. So get rolling with it. Then fix the graphics and layout.

Yes the pages you linked to should be improved upon at some point. I agree with Hawker and Paul about the look of the pages. Mal's idea is a good one too.

In addition to loading the pages you linked to, I also checked out your existing homepage on the site right now - http://www.emailcopywritingservice.com

Your existing homepage is better than the one you linked to in terms of looking professional. The one major issue I see with your existing homepage is that the top half of the site only loads the top half of that part of the page. On my computer - the top half of your site is chopped off. You definitely need to fix that.

Thank you so much everyone for your responses.
The site is still a work in progress. I wanted to get
some reviews from other people so that I can work on it
further and polish it up. I have actually already started
advertising it, so I am sure I have had some prospective
clients check it out.

So let me work on it a bit more, based on your feedback, and I will
post the changes made when I am done.

The image I used was 4.3 mb. My graphic designer advised
me to use that. I guess I need to find another designer.

Also that landing page, it has a dot "." as the page Title. What's that about?

I used a dot coz the page title shows up on the website menu and
I don't want it to show up. So, I am still trying to figure out how to
hide the page from the menu yet still have the page show up on the site.
Didn't think anyone would notice the dot. ha ha!

I am also trying to figure out how to insert a table.

Yes, I think the site is still a bit primitive and I didn't know how to
make it better, that is why I posted here to get some reviews on it.
Now I know which areas to concentrate on.

Do you mind telling me how you managed to make the image
smaller?

Hi Julzwriter,
A couple of things...

Being a Graphic Designer does'nt make you a Web Developer. No need to sack him/her if you are happy with their work.

As to reducing the file;

Firstly I found the displayed size in your web code. Then I downloaded the image.

I then used Photoshop to reduce the size by outputting as a Web Size file, in this case 480 pixels wide.

I compressed it further with Fireworks to reduce the size some more.

Any decent graphics package will reduce the actual image size, and there are online services that will reduce the file size too.

I have not used any of these, but here is one; [URLnofo]http://www.imageoptimizer.net[/URLnofo]

It is a standard to use an image the same size as it is displayed.

Your image was at the original high resolution level. Massive in fact!

Someone above suggested you could delete the white background of the image, making it transparent.

I tried this quickly with a Magic Eraser tool, but it did not work as there are parts of the shirt colars that are the same color.

If you wanted to get fancy you could make some kind of line along these to stop that happening. Maybe a good job for a patient Graphic Designer? :>)

Take care.

cheers, Mal.

Biggest thing I noticed was what Paul mentioned.

Being that the site offers copywriting services, the copy on the site is sorely lacking. I am no copy expert, far from it, but I'd guess the people who need this type of service are a little more advanced and a little more knowledgeable, and the lack of good copy on your site could shake their confidence that you can deliver.

I'd be thinking, "If they can't create good copy for their own site, how can I expect them to write good copy for me if I give them money?"

Copy is your business, so your site really needs to reflect that.

Sorry to be negative, just my impression.

You also REALLY need to get some stats or testimonials, some proof you do deliver the goods.

Also, if your graphic designer is suppose to be some one who designs images for online use, and they recommend you use an image of that nature with that file size, then yes you do need to find a new one.

Redesign or change of colors?
I am using a Wordpress theme.

I am still working on the site. Not yet done with it.
I have added Sales Pages for the different services that we offer.
Will continue adding others.

Each service has a sales page wherever I am advertising
the service, so by the time the client
is getting to our site, they have passed through a sales
page and they are ready to buy. So they have just come
to the site to order.

I have added some recent client testimonials too.

Hi Julzwriter,
sorry if those comments above have scared you off your landing page design.

Maybe you could look at a page builder like Thrive Themes that has a bunch of templates.

Templates take the problems of design away from you largely, and help you save time as well.

I build all of my sites with templates now. It actually makes it much easier if you are creating sites for clients too as you can show them different designs upfront, allowing them to make a decision and letting you get on with things without much too and fro.

You can build a bunch of pages with these templates too, not just landing pages.

[URLnf="https://www.youtube.com/user/thrivethemes"]Here is their YouTube Channel[/URLnf] where you can see a bunch of demo/info videos.

It is the tool I promote in my Free Landing Page report as well.

Anyway, I hope this helps you some.

Funny, how often people say this or that doesn't look good, yet they can not give reasons why. Doesn't help any one if you don't give specifics.

Or they are just talking out their butt :)

My comment did help her. She removed the landing page and I am sure she is going to create a better one. My comment was short, to the point, and honest.

On the other hand, you owe me an apology for your offensive comment.
