Why Open-source apps are best for E-commerce Store?

What can be the potential reasons for you to choose opensource applications like magento, prestashop, opencart or woocommerce for an Ecommerce store

I would chose open source to have the ability to modify the code and tweak it as I wish, I could also resell it later without anybody having any objection to that. This is my understanding for open source in general, E-commerce Stores might have their own version.
