Hi everyone,

When you are on Facebook, you can share comments and stories, images...with your friends, also you can join fb group, fanpage to join with friends. Compared to a forum where people just come to share a specific interest, knowledge, experiences..or some private thoughts
Will Facebook kill the forums? what do you think about this opinion ?

Any thoughts?

No there is no way facebook is going to kill the forum. Forums has their own pros and that's why people like to use them.

Forum will always exist. Simply because fb and forum are two different platform. Each forum have their own expertise member (I'm not saying there is no in fb). e.g. if you have difficulties on computer, you can find forum about computer where members can help you to your problems in computer. Unlike in fb, it is more on social chatting.

Apples and Oranges. Forums provides a better sharing experience. Facebook is a good source for recent news and events but it can't compete with forum community when it comes to sharing knowledge.

As we look today's time than we see than people find a lot of things through Facebook. But honestly I think that there is a vast difference between Facebook and forum. You even can't compare social networking site with any community site. Yeah hell there are too many people are on Facebook rather than forum sites. But still forum is as important as holds its importance previously.

Also if you run a forum you have more control over what happens. With facebook you have no control over some of the stupid things they do!

Hi Kelly

I don't think it will kill forums ever if am honest with you.

I like Forums over Facebook ( groups and pages ) and where there's a broad topic of interest then there will always be popular forums.

I also find that Facebook have a tendency to keep changing the rules and messing things up that where good in the first place.

I love forums and I don't see anything as of yet that's going to kill them.

I think Facebook is a great place to connect with people but Forums will always in my mind be better than most FaceBook Groups. one reason would be active forums are monitored much better than Facebook as you are less likely to get spammed with the latest get rich plan. I belong to a few active FaceBook groups but overall I prefer forums over FaceBook.

Besides when I use FaceBook I tend to spend more time looking through my feed wondering what everyone is doing compared to a forum, I'm looking to conntect and help others.

I agree with your thought, I registered over 100 fb groups and promoting my programs on them but I don't get any good results with it, seem it has too many bots (auto tools) there where they are posting offers.

I think FB and G are two competitors thus our post on facebook is difficult to get high positions on google search result...sure someone here knew that.

Facebook is a very good tool to nurture fan support, and yes, you can utilize it to funnel your fans to your site, or to your forum. So nope, it's not gonna kill the forums. :)

Facebook can kill chat and and can affects general discussion forums, but it will not have an impact that is worth mentioning on business, webmaster or niche forums.

Forum will not killed by Facebook because i facebook we will share unwanted topics but in Forum we are only posting the useful topics to share and gain knowledge.

Well lets not exclude this from ever happening. Since 1 in 3 people have a Facebook, they do have the ultimate leverage over most websites. What I mean by this is that if a larger company wanted to take out a smaller one, they could. If Facebook wanted to build a marketing forum along with 100s of other niches, they have the marketing budget that could do so. It is a bit more interesting looking at it from this angel. But, do they have enough will power and money to create a community larger than every huge forum that exists? Probably not.

However speaking in terms of taking out big marketing forums such as DP and Warrior, I believe Facebook could cater to that crowd with a unique approach to a forum for that.

Like Keven O' Leary says on shark tank, what is stopping himself from just creating a product better and for cheaper and just stomping all over the little guys.

Reddit is killing forums not facebook. Because Reddit can be used just like forums and you don't have to sign up for a new forum but just one time sign up and you can join in on all sorts of discussions.

Facebook will be down in 2-3 years, like many other hugh social networks before. There will always be forums, and there will always be new social networks rising.

No. It can not happen ever because facebook has different features than Forums. On forum we can learn a lot and discuss our ideas with skilled and specialist people while on facebook very few can reply and its hard to find that who can answer your question.
