I want to build a website around affiliate products
So, my question is, how to rank an affiliate site on google?
and it's more different from ranking for a normal site?

Thanks

Whereas, you are a beginner, So first build a website with a popular subject that you are interested on.

Don't take any black hat SEO method. Just build a good network with readers and other people through advising, writing valuable and interesting content. Mainly don't focusing on search engine just you add many content based on your readers' behaviors.

You know, Many webmasters believe that a Thin Affiliate website is going to take poor ranking. So avoid it and take useful and valuable content to get rank for a long term in SEO.

Finally see above everything I wrote about content, Yes this is the key of your affiliate program. So friend target your audience to give them original and valuable information through your best writing skill or professional writer . Don't rewrite or scrape others’ content.

Best of luck.

There are basically two approaches you can take... One being the quick and easy approach but involves spending money for traffic and the other is taking the time to develop content and to build organic traffic over a long period of time... In sum:

Method 1) Build a landing page, offer a free bonus for email sign-up. Use your newsletter to promote affiliate products etc... This type of page will not rank on the SERPs so you'll need to target traffic though ads such as on FB, forums, related websites etc.
Advantages: Quick and easy. Does not rely on search engines.
Disadvantages: Funds required for ads.

Method 2) Build a blog with lots of really useful engaging content... Add lots of articles making sure to use keyword research... Promote your products... Can also offer newsletter.... Also recommend social media as an additional source of traffic as well as off-page SEO for backlinking etc..
Advantages: No funds required as all traffic is organic (unless paying for guest postings, backlinks etc)..
Disadvantages: Lots of time and effort required...

There are of course hybrids of method 1 & 2 - i.e. combining ads for instant traffic whilst using SEO/content marketing for the long haul... My best advice is not to build a business which relies on Google for traffic... Diversify your traffic sources and use/build your email list...

Best of luck!
