My requirements are something that has good speed and is priced decently. I have only used one and I wanted to know if anyone else had a good reseller that they liked. I am thinking about changing mine as it's servers are getting slow and out dated.

I expect that you haven't any special considerations or requirements, therefore I suggest one of the following [URLnf="http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2424725,00.asp"]here[/URLnf]

Most all have a reseller package.

That is a terrible article! The PC Magazine article is the same every year. They simply take the most popular hosts and automatically list them as the best.

GoDaddy, HostGator, 1&1, Blue Host, Host Winds, all have TERRIBLE user reviews! Check out WebHostingGeeks.com. Their user reviews are moderated so that only actual customers can leave reviews. Uncheck the boxes for 0-4 stars, and you will see most of the hosts mentioned by PC Magazine disappear off the list!

The hosts you listed are among the largest (from PC Magazine). They have hundred of thousands, if not millions of customers. In that pool, the probability that someone will write a bad review far exceeds that of a more specialized host. Normal people who are not technical use a GoDaddy or Host Gator without issue (or close to it).

Check other sources, rather then just believing what PC Magazine has to say. Look at actual customer reviews. Sure, lots of people use GoDaddu and HostGator without problem. However when you do have a problem, and have to rely on their support, that's when things go terribly wrong!

I am more than aware of the reviews and am not only taking into account PC Magazine. I've been in the industry since 2003.

Would I personally host with GoDaddy? Probably not.

Do I mean 'GoDaddy' specifically? No. I am referring to all hosts within the same class.

However, a 'GoDaddy' can be a fine solution for a normal and non-technical user. Support is available (even by phone) 24/7. If someone were new to the space (both from the perspective of administering a host and the selling of hosting) they are going to want to minimize their risk.

------

Ben, if you want to get your hands dirty...go with Digital Ocean. You can have some fun with them.

Have you used GoDaddy? Have you contacted their support and waited 24hrs+ to get a reply? Have you used their phone support and received sub-par support?
I have!

Considering your philosophy, that their good because their big and well know:
McDonalds is a huge company. Everyone knows them and that have millions of customers. That must mean they have the best burgers in the world, dispute some bad reviews.

1) Yes, I use GoDaddy for some domains. Response times are OK. Phone support is helpful (and a nice perk).

2) Your analogy has many holes. McDonalds doesn't claim to make the best burger. McDonalds has a particular burger that is the same at every location. Their customers know what they are going to get. They aren't pitching you luxury dining or a high-end burger. It's fast food.

The OP is looking for reseller hosting (shared hosting with WHM access). A mainstream provider (e.g. GoDaddy, A Small Orange, Eleven 2) will more than likely prove sufficient.

Having been in this industry going on 20 years as a proven web hosting company, I will second this statement. The PC Magazine list is a joke year in and year out. We get new clients daily looking for help getting away from the mess godaddy makes of hosting. They are an awesome domain registrar but would I host my neighbors family vacation site with them, absolutely not... Hostgator not even worth commenting on...
