I'm a firm believer in the fact that there is no one host that is "The Best". You simply need to fine the one that is the best for you.

- Decide what resources and features you need.
- Find hosts that offer this for within your budget.
- Check for reviews on the companies on your list.
- Talk to the hosts. See what they have to say and how friendly/helpful they are.

If you really want to test a host, sign up for their cheapest package. Play around with it, test it out, mess it up. Then submit some tickets (different times of day) and see how fast they respond and how helpful they are.

First hand experience is the only way to know for sure.

Good luck in. Your search! Let us know if you have any other questions.

I heard of these hosting companies and hosted my blogs at one of them. No one is the best, the best for you is which you need to serve for your websites run best. Each hosting company has their advantages and you have to choose depends on your requirements.

Determine what your needs are to narrow down your list. For example do you need a control panel such as cpanel? Do you need it fully managed? How much is your budget? Once you figure it out you can narrow down your provider list and then it really comes down to a providers reputation, support response times (if this is important to you), company transparency (you don't want a kiddie host), etc. Good luck!

A lot of the providers you listed are non-managed, I suppose you have some knowledge of running a VPS then? If yes, I guess Linode and DigitalOcean will give you the best bang for buck, and yet still getting quality servers and support.

Generally speaking, and if we are still referencing "Managed" VPS, Rackspace cloud servers would probably offer the best performance.

Intelligent Servers (previously Elixant Technology) is/was a certified partner of RackSpace, in fact we initially intended to build our company on their infrastructure.... Their Cloud Servers are unmanaged & whether you choose to believe so or not, don't quite offer the best or even optimal performance (in our opinion). Then again it has been a year since we moved away from their infrastructure, unfortunately their price points are extremely high for what you get and other limitations such as addressing (IP) deterred us from continuing our relationship with them.

Remember, bigger isn't always better. For some however, RackSpace might be a great option... However, keep in mind said person would need access to a large amount of funding to utilize their services as most need.

I agree with your points but not quite true if sign up for their cheapest package to find a good hosting, because they could provide lower quality service with cheaper hosting packages which we will not know exactly about premium packages.

My budget is always around $20 to $40 for a hosting package but I don't agree with you about cpanel and fully managed, because they have already fixed price for each hosting.

As I said, I tried DigitalOcean and not impressed with their control panel and their loading speed. Maybe I tried a cheap package ($10) so that I could not get better service?

Why are Rackspace cloud servers? I have not used this package yet.
