Internal page backlinks are the links which are internal. If you own a blog and you are writing on say topic ABC which has words XYZ in it. However you have previously written for XYZ, so you can link the words/sentence to the post XYZ and which is the internal page link.

Backlinks can help but will take some time to build. You can find forums and blogs in your niche and post to those for starters. Add value. With forums, you can put your url in your signature, but you should know that a lot of forums require you to make a certain number of posts before your signature will show up. With blogs, you need to find some that have a space for a website url and only put your url there. Make a real comment that pertains to the page you are posting on. Don't make it look like spam because the best sites to post on are monitored. Finally, internal links are something you create when you look from one page on your site to another.

yes it's possible to get top rankings with only few backlinks but these will have to be coming from high quality authoritative websites (which is actually quite difficult to get!!).

You could think about the internal link structure of your own website in the same way as you do links on the internet that link somewhere else (backlinks).

As you know, sites with the most link backs (in most cases) are the ones that rank first.

That's one way that a search engine can know which site is the most relevant to what people are searching for.

In the same way, the pages that get linked to the most in your site by your other sites pages are usually the ones that a search engine will rank higher over other pages on your site.

Obviously this all depends on many factors like what people searched, how that relates to your site, your on-page content and of course, your sites internal link structure.

In fact, internal links play a massive part in your off-page SEO as well. It's why WordPress created taxonomies (tags) back in 2007 so you could tag relevant blog posts and provide a better way of linking to similar content.

If you are talking about to rank your internal pages with few backinks, then create backinks from high authority websites. Those links should be dofollow and relevant to your website.
