Is it by "registered user" views?

or...
Any view?
Any view per IP?
Any view with their copylink? (adds ?srid=uClgr to the url)
Any view over a certain amount of time? (30 seconds then bounce)

It depends on each web system.

For any web systems, it will count views by counting clicks from users when they clicked on a link.

View per IP can happen on any platforms like google adwords, analytics, ad networks, affiliate programs when they want to track exactly number of users clicks to link or their websites.

Interesting problem to solve. It is not based on time because it counts instantly (firefox developer version can show you this in the network tab). It is not registered user because counts add after an event trigger (probably mouse click). That tells me it's IP unless you're logged in. When logged in it's recording the events and sending the data to and from your account instead of IP. At least that's what it looks like.
