Does meta description still matter?

Hi all,

I know how much meta description was important before 7 8 years ago but nowadays I am not aware about it is still as effective as it was earlier as I have read that "meta description is not a ranking factor anymore" in lots of articles wrote by SEO experts.

It does not matter anymore, if a meta tag is not specified the search engines will still make a meta description based on the content. Even if you write a meta description sometimes it's not displayed the specified meta description because the search engines try to match your search keywords with the content from the search results sites. So... don't worry about meta descriptions, the search engines will pick what is the best from the content.

Well Meta description wont help you for ranking anymore but keeping the users in mind the meta description is necessary, as you might knew that meta description will shown whenever users try to find something on search engines and hence he or she will get to that what kind of page they are going to enter before entering the page

Meta Description is part of SEO and Meta Description is used to get Google about this website Description. So Meta Description is still work as it used to.

Meta Description is still useful and for Ranking, There are some more other factors those are very strong then Meta Description.

It not that effective as it used to be 7 years back but meta description is still a factor for ranking. It also helps the user to understand what's on the website.

All Meta Descriptions are very important excluding the Keywords. No doubt Google fetches the top content as Meta descriptions but that doesn't mean meta descriptions is not necessary now. Meta descriptions set by SEO expert have its own role on the indexing of a website.
