Shared hosting is good for small websites that do not consume a lot of server resources including CPU, RAM and power. VPS is good for websites which require more server resources.

VPS is like a dedicated server, you have root access and control over security features, application, etc. Where with shared hosting you don't have these features.

Thanks for this information, so finally we can say shared hosting is better for small scale business and VPS is good most of the large scale companies for proper response.
What about the downtime of both the server?

If you don't have to use VPS then stick to shared. No worrys about security or mail setup or any server related stuff. I use VPS but it is for my big clients.

In shared hosting, if other website that shared under the same server with you get overloaded or use over resource, your site will also be affected.

In VPS, your site won't get affected.

hared hosting is a perfect solution for individual web-sites that do not require much in terms of resources or power. They donÂ’t need too much RAM, CPU, or disk space. They usually store some information either about a very small business or about a person or their hobby/interests. These do no require much in terms of anything in the hosting world, really. However, if a business decides to grow, and a personÂ’s interests become of value and interest to others, then the power of shared hosting is simply not enough to sustain a high volume of traffic and to store the sensitive information that is so vital to many people.

Shared Hosting is cheaper & cost effective Hosting plan & this plan is best if you dont have much more experience of Hosting.

Generally, in Shared Hosting you will not get dedicated IP for your site, your IP is shared among many users. Moreover, some resources such as RAM & CPU is also shared among many users in Shared Hosting.

In a VPS(Virtual Private Servers), a physical Server's resources are divided into Virtual Servers and provides a Dedicated Server's experience to the user. You have root access of your own Virtual Space in VPS. VPS allows you to install any softwares that you want into your Virtual Space.

Hi, KellyLC
Shared web hosting is a hosting service where many websites resides on a one web connected to the internet. Each site sits on its own partition to keep separate from other sites. This is most economical option for hosting,as many people share the overall cost of the web server.A virtual private server is one of many virtual machine running on a single computer. A VPS is dedicated to the individual customer's needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run server software.

Shared hosting is like living in an apartment where you share a common space with your neighbors. It is suitable for you if you have limited number of blogs and smaller websites which you can maintain easily.
If you want to customize everything to your own tastes and you need to maintain you own area then VPS is suitable for you. In VPS hosting you will have a huge space and bandwidth so you can do everything whatever you want.

There are plenty of advantages of using VPS as compared to shared hosting few are described as:

dedicated CPU
dedicated Ram
you have root access so you can do any tweak you want.
You have full control of server restart etc.

Shared hosting is a perfect solution for individual web-sites that do not require much in terms of resources or power.
A shared server hosts hundred of accounts on a single physical server without allowing root level access, control over security features, or many other measures for that matter. A person can update the code and put in small, insignificant applications (if any) on their web-site. A shared server has so much traffic going through it from all the users that are hosted on it, that it can easily be hacked and sensitive information can be pulled out. These are not types of risks that business owners, for example want to take. Credit card numbers, socials security numbers, addresses, names, can all be jeopardized by using a shared hosting solution for a web-site that needs higher security and more control. Also, the web-site, if growing, may need to support hundreds of accounts of users at a time and simply will not be able to operate fast enough to provide a pleasant experience, in turn losing customers and business.
A Virtual Private Server is able to provide you with the best notion of security and enough resources to sustain the business operations required. A Virtual Private Server host partitions a single dedicated server into about 20 Virtual Dedicated Servers and divides the resources evenly among the accounts hosted on that single machine. Each account behaves just like a dedicated server does and allows users the power and resources that required sustaining high traffic and high security. The power to install application and software and have full access to the root is a cherry on top with VPS. The control that a customer gets with Virtual Private Server hosting solutions is simply unmatched in shared hosting.

Major advantage is you are the master of the server. No other website can affect to your websites loading ;)

The real advantage is having root access. You're able to choose what software and what versions of those softwares is installed and enabled on your server. You can choose to remove or add different modules to build a server that accommodates your needs and not the general needs of others.

There is also extra added isolation so blacklisted IP addresses etc don't become a problem for you whereas this may be possible on a shared server.

Really, opt for a VPS if you need to (have outgrown shared hosting) and / or want the extra added benefits of full control, extra reliability and security.

Major advantage is you are the master of the server. No other website can affect to your websites loading ;)
Unless the node itself is overloaded.

1) Expansion of VPS hosting is beyond Shared hosting.
2) VPS hosting have huge bandwidth and huge space.
3) You can configure anything you wish on the server.
4) You can have scalability and backup.
5) It Will Run your own batch files to create multiple services.

A Virtual Private Server will be able to offer the greatest notion of security as well as enough resources in order to sustain the actual business operations recommended. A Virtual Private Server host partitioning a single dedicated server in to about 20 Virtual Dedicated Servers and separates the resources evenly among the accounts hosted upon that single machine.
