Get higher rankings when without SEO?

More algorithms that google updated from last months cause decrease rankings of more website on search engine result. And I heard people said that they didn't do SEO for their websites and it got higher rankings than websites did SEO.

what is your thought?

if the content is unique and of high quality, they may get higher ranking. But if there is some competition with that content/keyword, without seo, nothing will work

Yes, for sure you can rank your website on top without off page SEO but you must need to keep your website’s on page SEO of A grade for the same.

If the content is unique then one can be ranked well on Google..But it is not possible for all niche to rank well on search engine without doing SEO..

This is not has to do , if you do SEO or not , some webmasters just overdo it and most of the times this is not good for a website.

Yes it can happen but only if the content of the sites is unique and having quality. And also the onpage should have to be of A grade because without this its not possible at all.

SEO is nothing very Alien. It is simply a way to make a website more user friendly, valuable(in terms of information) and search friendly on internet. If somebody does that unwantedly without knowing anything related to SEO in technical terms, then also his website will do good on search engines like Google.
Google does not look for SEO-optimized websites, but websites with search-friendly ,valuable contents and user-friendly characteristics. If they find them, they rank well on Google SERPs, as simple as that.

Social media sites plays very important role apart from SEO. Google gives lot of importance to backlinks from these sites (so have I heard).
