Hi everyone,

I am having a small issue with my vps when I edited a file content on my FTP program (use Cute FTP software), I couldn't save file content and when CMOD it to 777 then it showed a File transfer log box below
Request denied.
Please verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation.
But a strange thing is when I used Filezilla with root account for editing file content then everything fine.

Have you ever got this problem before and how to solve it?

Hi,

Are you using same credentials in CuteFTP and FileZilla?

You can try using below settings,

1.tools --> global options.
2.Go to transfer there and change data mode from auto to port.

Hope this will help, let me know how it goes.

I tried to use Chown command for public_html folder on SSH with username created in my web hosting control panel then I could edit files on FTP program

I don't know why it happened like that?
Do you know the reason?

I believe the problem you are having is that the file's permissions have been altered in such a way that you can not edit them. Contact your hosting provider, there is a good chance this was done automatically by their security protocols.
