I want to invest into advertising for my blog to increase revenue for it and wanted to know if it is more profitable to do so by Google or Facebook or somethings else... Any experiences?

Thank You.

Its depend on your objective if you want to build brand and engage audience go for facebook But if you are looking to create immediate conversions/transactions, then Google is the best choice.

To promote your blog posts, I would advise you to go with facebook. It will be a lot cheaper and more effective for seo.

If your content is really good and offers a lot of value then you'll also get re-shares. This will also give you more organic traffic from facebook. Google Adwords is very expensive these and doesn't convert well like it used to so instead of going with Adwords, I would go with Bing ads.

Roggy,

The answer to your question primarily depends on your target market, on your offer, on your industry / niche and on your ideas regarding the right timing based on your ideal customer avatar. Here are some case examples, mentioning just the top 3 networks, based on our recent tests:

CASE A. More clicks and higher conversions with ads in Bing, Facebook and paid placements at authority sites (in this order) for a PC optimization software product developed for personal / home PC use...

CASE B. more clicks and higher conversions with ads in Google, paid placements at authority sites and Google+ (in this order) for a network security software product developed for business / enterprise use by network engineers, IT admins and expert technology staff...

CASE C. More clicks and higher conversions with ads in paid placements at local authority sites, Bing and LinkedIn for specialist B2B services in ICT industry...

CASE D. More clicks and higher conversions with ads in Facebook, paid placements at local authority sites and Google for specialist B2C services in home / office maintenance industry...

Then again, these are our results, our tests, our campaigns. It's best for you to formulate test campaigns, track your results, improve your campaigns, and repeat this process. Cheers! :)

Here are my two cents:

If you are into building a community of online supporters and intend to funnel them into your site/services, then go for Facebook ads. You're dealing with a limited yet organic market. However, if you're targeting a wider audience, then Google ads are the way to go.

I use them both, sometimes google converts better and
sometimes it's Facebook.....
