The word FREE automatically sets peoples minds as receivers which makes them more susceptible to agreeing to something else in the future, it's psychology and it's always used in marketing, in this case when you get something for free you are more susceptible to do whatever it is the people giving away stuff wants you to do. e.g. buying something, sharing something on social media, etc.

So.. What would I say to this?
If you want your business to grow, start giving away stuff, but always remember to give really high quality products, that way when you offer people to buy something, they can expect it to be good if not great and will continue to come back.

There's no such thing as FREE in my own opinion, If you've been doing internet marketing for quite some time now. You'll realize that FREE is used to get your attention so they can promote something to you.

Sometimes they also you the power of "Good Will" by giving away free information / stuffs so they can ask you to buy from them.

This method works that's why a lot of people who has atleast a basic understanding of internet marketing is doing the same thing.

I think the word "Free" is way over used especially in online marketing..I think it lowers the statistical number of people that succeed online.

Statistically more people succeed in Brick and mortar businesses then online ones, and for good reason.

No one goes to start a business offline by thinking they can succeed with no investment or marketing plan, in fact most offline business owners had to write a business plan first in order to apply for a loan to start their business. In the offline world people understand they have to invest in their business in order to succeed, in both time and money.

The word is used so much online, that a LOT of wanna be internet marketers think that they can actually build an income online for free. And there is nothing further from the truth, it just does not cost know where near as much. It is not their fault either, everyone uses it in their marketing and everyone has to if they want to be successful online. Because this was the trend set before them....

So I really think after my years of experience doing this, that the word "Free" hinders peoples chances for success. It gives people the "lottery mentality" That they can make money for nothing..

Can you imaging an offline store giving away their products and services, they would be out of business in a heart beat????????

And if some actually could financially give away a portion of them, what would happen to the other businesses that couldn't afford to do so??

Well then they would either have to do it as well or go out of business, then you would have customers running around all over trying to get as much as possible for nothing, cause of course who does not want Free stuff...?

Pretty soon, it will have created a whole conglomerate of people all wanting everything for free, and what that would do is make it harder for any business to make money, so only the most elite and financially well off companies would make all the money, and it would be the death of the mom and pop businesses...Sound familiar?

Its why over 90% of all people who try to make money online fail. What if their were no free websites ,free domain and hosting or free auto responders, free squeeze pages, etc..? What if they all at least cost something, that would mean everyone would have to pay money for products and services online. This would change the mentality of those looking to make money online, they would come into it knowing they had to set a side a budget, and they would have more invested and would try harder. Your not going to give up as easy when you have have something to lose..

I have owned traditional brick and mortar businesses, I understand having something to lose, I couldn't just give up or walk away when things got tough, I had to get serious...

Basic economics, money must change hands in order for someone to profit..

Even if these services went to at least a $1 a month, and split the profits, a whole lot more people would make money online...If everything had a true cost, and it would still be affordable for individuals to come online to make an extra income. And way more people would succeed!!

I truly believe this..I had an easy transition from offline marketing to online, and why I have been successful, I have owned brick and mortar businesses, so investing in myself online was a no brainer, I paid over $4000 a month for rent just for one of my offline stores, paying $10 for web-hosting in the beginning was a relief..

From a business perspective, offering something for free is a great way to get people in the door. However if it is not a quality product, it can bite you in the end.

From a consumer perspective, just remember, "you get what you pay for"!

Free stuff is great, but you know, nothing is really free. Everything comes at a price. It might technically be "free", in the sense that you don't have to "pay" any money to get it, but money is not the only currency that matters. Quality, for example, is something that may be lacking in a "free" product.

When something is free it tends to be a bit of a bad service/software. Either that or it does not offer its services at its full extent, you have to pay to unlock all the features. Also, another thing is that it may have ads everywhere, as it is easy to make money from free apps from the ads.
