There isn't much difference, especially as there are over 200+ ranking factors.. At the core G's ranking algo is based on links...

The recent changes regarding mobile search only applies to smart phone users in that websites which use responsive/mobile designs will get some credit over desktop versions... But keep in mind that is one factor out of many!!! That does not mean mobile sites will rank above desktop versions based purely if they are responsive or not...

As mentioned there are many other ranking factors, the difference is the weightings of each is slightly different for mobile search vs. desktop search and hence it is reasonable to assume that sites which are not responsive can easily outrank mobile sites based on the strength of other factors such as quality backlinks when it comes to mobile only search...

I heard about this update but I couldn't distinguish between responsive and mobile style, If my blog site is using responsive or mobile style then it will pass this update?
or only responsive?

With your website being mobile ready then you basically have two choices..

1) You could use a responsive theme which attempts to convert your website to be better suited to mobile search. Typically it will re-arrange your website so that items are stacked on top of each other so that information is presented more clearly on a mobile device as well as not displaying some items...

2) You could alternatively develop a mobile website and when a user arrives on your site a check is made as to the type of device they have and redirect them accordingly... Typically users have a choice to switch between mobile or desktop versions...

You can check your website against Google's mobile friendly test tool.

For website performance also have a look at PageSpeed Insights which can also help...

Hope that helps!

I have read many news regarding Google's mobile friendly update. Likewise, I'm wondering how will it affect mobile friendly sites already before google announce this updates. Will their ranking or traffic affects too?

It may affect mobile search only when using a smart phone etc.... This will not impact desktop search at all... As mentioned a mobile friendly site is just one of many factors BUT that is specific to mobile search... Even if a site is not mobile friendly it will still rank on mobile search results given other factors such as backlinks, relevancy of content etc...

In addition its worth noting that mobile traffic may not even convert well for your site due to the type of niche... For example a lot of people prefer to buy from a desktop and not from a mobile device... Therefore this change with mobile search is very likely to have any impact at all...
