Hi, I am new to SEO and I was watching some tutorials on on-page and off-page seo, for the most part I understood the on-page SEO which is something easier than Off page SEO, for the off-page SEO the guy told that you need to insert authority backlinks to your website in order to rank higher in the search engines.

That was confusing to me and I didnt fully understand how to get backlinks from other websites. Is it similiar to the dissertation project that you do in university study where you do the research and prepare your research paper you put the relevant references from where you collected the data?

Is it exactly that if you are writing your blog article you put the backlinks of websites from where you did the research and write your blog post? In youtube video you can put those links in the description but for blog post where to put them? And also how many backlinks do you have to put to rank it in the search engines?

No, that would be more like on-page seo (out-bound links, these are links going out of your website).

Nope that's on-page seo.

You misunderstood the person who was telling you about off-page seo, but it's good to see you going out there and getting your hands dirty. Keep doing that.

But basically, just like the word says, "off-page". That means the links have to be coming from other websites, meaning other websites linking to your websites. That's off-page or in-bound link.

Let me put it this way, on-page seo is the seo you do on your website. Off-page seo is the seo you do outside of your website like getting a link from another blogger in your niche.

And also how many backlinks do you have to put to rank it in the search engines?

That will depend on your competition, there's no way to know exactly how many links you'll need. You simply have to analyze your competition using a tool like SEMRush. Remember, you don't need a lot of backlinks simply get a few backlinks from high authority sites.

There are no secrets when it comes to building backlinks, you can go do some search about how to build quality backlinks to your site. You can even hire someone or an seo company to do the off-page seo for you.

I do not understand your sentence. In a simple way, backlinks are links that point to your website (the site that you want to promote) from other authoritative sites.

In the content of your blog post, certainly. You have a blog post, you choose some words from its content, and make them anchor texts that point to your site.

Building high quality backlinks is more important than building many of them with low quality. Low quality backlinks can negate the rank of your site in the search result. You can use tool like Ahrefs to check the parameters of your site and your competitor's sites as well.

just as someone has replied above, that is on-page SEO, now to know how many backlinks needed to rank your website, you don't really need so much of them, just a few of them is okay like about 50 backlinks, but the trick here is that make sure they are created in websites of high authority domains and hopefully of the same niche with you. QUALITY is far BETTER than QUANTITY.
As for the issue of creating backlinks via blog post, what you need do is blog commenting where you comment on a specific topic meaningfully and put in your link as a reference to your comment. you can also do guest blogging and many others. just do a research on how to create backlinks on your own

There are no such parameter to count how many backlinks will it take to rank your website in search engine, its just making relevant links and making your website more visible to your visitors from other pages

I will suggest maybe searching on Google to look for bloggers who are relevant or have relevant topics to your niche and see if you can do a guest blog plus a link back to your website. Please do check if the blogs have any sponsored posts or have too many outward bound links as Google doesn't really like such blogs; if you really need to, please ask the blogger to set NoFollow on the links. These days like all days, Big G is really particular with backlinks' quality, building thousands of spammy links is easy and won't help much or none at all; getting 1 good/quality backlink will help you on a long-term basis (unless a new algo dictates that such links will harm your rankings). SEO won't show quick results so be patient, especially your niches is very competitive.

Yeah, I just would like to add besides contacting bloggers/ webmasters of the websites related to yours, you can put your link on some directories, social media like G+ also helps, and maybe in related forums.
The most common thing I read in some blogs is that a blogger interviews other bloggers about their experiences and put the link in the website. And it's reciprocal.

seo has two types its on page and off page. Both plays the same role of placing your website at the initial page of google . However both has distinct methods like in off page we do bookmarking,directory,profile creation,classified ads.And on page is simply means what we do on the webpage.Blog posting is all about content as we know content is the king.

Backlinks can be placed many places in a websites. For example, blogs that have comments section where you can put your website url in the website field, and when your comments are approved, people can click your name and it leads to your url. That's one in many ways.

One of the ways I get back links for my articles is to go to buzzsumo.com and do a keyword search about what the top topic that people are sharing. Then I write something along that lines but different and ask the people that shared to share my article. You can't do this all at once, a bunch at a time. I've gotten great results.
