There are more and more publicity methods now. Is it better to promote through online self-media or offline advertising?

It totally depends upon the product you are selling; some products can be promoted online very well. But there are many ways to promote a product online also.

While on the other hand, some products cannot be sold or promoted online; they need to be pitched via personal meetings only.

Thus, it would be good if you explain a little bit more about the product types.

Yes, It depends upon the kind of business/services you are offering. Online marketing plays important role in branding and lead generation locally as well as globally.

You should have to give a short tutorial explaining what your product does, For example, Twitter has the What, Why, and How buttons right there on the front page and nothing else to distract you from them.
If you're going to do it, try it via Blogging, Facebook, and Twitter work.

You can also purchase Google ads words and other Insta ads, or other Social media platforms.
You can consider an open-source version of your project,
or joining trade groups/ forums related to whatever problem your product addresses,
and start to build engagement but please don't spam these groups.

You can promote your products on your social media profiles, by running a blog on your subject, but also by paid Google Adwords or Facebook Ads :)

The main advice is to identify your target audience, and find out where it is more and where it will see your advertisement, from this and see the answer

You can combine online and offline promotion. Depends on the business. As rightly noted, the main thing is to know your target audience. For example, an older audience prefers newspapers, TV and magazines. The younger social networks and messengers.
