Do you need to verify your site with google analytics and webmaster tools?

I have read a short information from a SEOer that we don't need to verify our website with google analytics and webmaster tools which helps Google detect problems on our website and if they are bad, we are easy to get bad rankings than getting good results. Is it true or false?

Google webmaster tools and analytics are the Google's products. They are free. Using Webmaster tools we can find our website backlinks and website strength whether it is attacked or not.

Using Google analytics we can see our website audience from difference corners and their Operating System, browser etc.,

It's not mandatory to use these products, but they are very helpful.
