I think if you have set up your webmaster account then checking the number of indexed URL is the best way to count website pages.

you check the url through your sitemap.xml file. Just create a site using thrid party site like xml-sitemaps.com when you create a sitemap it will show you the complete list of pages.

Not if you have orphaned pages it won't or pages you did not add to the sitemap.

OP, there is no simple way to count the pages unless you are absolutely positive you have no orphaned pages. If you don't have orphaned pages, use something like Screaming Frog to crawl the site. Otherwise, you would have to count your files, assuming you didn't just throw every file, images, videos, etc. into one directory. Also assuming you are not using a database driving CMS like Wordpress.

If you did use Wordpress, just go into your Posts/Pages and see how many it says you have.

And by the way, this has nothing to do with SEO and should be moved somewhere else.
