Should I use basic hosting or website builder and what about software vs own html?

Hi everyone, I have been out of the game for the last 15 years and I am ready to jump back in.

My plan is create a landing page/website that feeds traffic to an online casino.

I need some advice on where to get hosting and if I should use any of these "website builder" services like wix or godaddy etc? From what I can see, most of them do not allow gambling related websites on their "builder".

So if I just get regular basic hosting, should I use some kind of back end software like wordpress etc?

This landing page could be in the form of the blog or it could just be made by hand in notepad. The more I think about it, I should probably use a blog format.

I used to create static websites by writing the html in notepad from scratch.

I need to get a domain, get it hosted, and put up a site on it asap.

I was planning on having a cheap logo made, the rest of the site/pages can look pretty basic.

Any advice here so I can do things correct/best practice right from the get go?

Thanks!

@genxy,
For your landing page, it's best to use a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, as it provides a more flexible and scalable platform compared to hand coding HTML. It will also make it easier for you to manage your content and update your site over time.

As for hosting, you can choose from a variety of providers here https://www.webmastersun.com/forums/130-web-hosting-offers/, which all offer affordable and reliable WordPress hosting options.

Regarding domain registration, you can register your domain with providers like GoDaddy or Namecheap.

Please note that most hosting providers do not allow gambling-related websites, so it's best to check with your chosen host before proceeding.

Also, keep in mind that the laws and regulations surrounding online gambling and advertising can vary by country and state, so it's important to research and abide by these regulations.

Thank you for the replies. This was the exact kind of info I was looking for.

I had to search up gambling friendly hosts and I believe I have found one that has reasonable prices, allows gambling, and good quick customer service replies and they have free word press that comes pre-installed. Looking to pull the trigger on this new project in about 1 week or 2.

Thanks for the replies! Getting hyped now to get back into the game!

If you really want to engage in gambling, you've chosen the hard way  I would start with something easier. Even the e-commerce or something similar.

I found someone who is going to design me a simple logo for $20 so with that and the hosting for 1 yr my initial investment should be around $50usd then the rest is up to me and the hours I clock creating content and backlinks etc. I am excited to get started, regardless of the outcome!

It sounds like you have a clear plan and budget in place for your website, which is a great start. A logo design for $20 and hosting for a year for $30 sounds like a reasonable cost. Keep in mind that a website's success also depends on factors such as the quality of its content, user experience, and marketing efforts. I would recommend focusing on these elements in addition to building backlinks in order to increase your website's visibility and attract visitors. Good luck with your website!

Thanks. When I used to be involved in SEO, the most important thing was backlinks. It seems like these days you need both a quality site (content, user experience etc) and backlinks also. That is fine by me, because in my opinion the harder part will be building the backlinks. The subject matter of the landing site is something I care about so I should be able to write some good useful content on a regular basis.

Definitely stay away from the Website Builders you mentioned as, not only will they likely not allow any casino contents, but if they do, you may find that if you ever need to migrate your site, it is very difficult due to the underlying fact that these website builders actually "own" any content created using their respective platforms.
