Hey Guys,
My friend is trying to get started on odesk, freelancer and other sites but has no feedback. Is there anyway or tips to get reps and get earning quickly?

All your inputs are wecome!

Ahhh, I remember those days!

You have to have a really good proposal (not a canned response!), quick response to clients messages, and hopefully something in your portfolio to show your previous work completed elsewhere.
When starting out, you can't expect to charge top-dollar. You will have to start with small jobs, and bid slightly less then others.
Do great, fast work, with great communication, and keep working until the client is happy.

THEN you will get the good feedback you are after. It takes time and hard work (like everything else!) but it pays off in the end!

I actually have a real life friend who works as a freelancer on elance, basically the first (at least) 20 jobs you'd have to do mostly for pennies to get some positive feedback, else nobody is going to hire you.

Excellent tips and ideas. I am on freelancer and have just signed up for iwriter. I think I had a profile on Odesk, but I haven't been there in a coon's age. I try to bid on the easy jobs at present, as I've been on there for a couple of years, but have just actually started working more there. I currently have two jobs going on, one's pretty easy and the other one entails a lot of research, as genealogy usually does. I like it there, even though I rec'd a bad review because my aunt passed away, apparently the person thought I was lying...but whatever...lol
