E-mail Marketing vs Social Media, which I should go with?

I didn't have any answers between E-mail Marketing and Social Media, which I should go with to increase online sales and traffic for my website. should I do both or finding other techniques to try?

if you are sending mail to irrelevant people for your service, then no one will come.

Ask your subscribers to participate/join your groups.

Each has it's own merits.

Social media and email marketing both are excellent online marketing strategies but I think with email marketing you can cover a highly targeted potential customers than social media.
